Bombora's Beanies For Brain Cancer - Mark Hughes Foundation Funraiser

We at Bombora strive for success in every endeavor we undertake. We consistently do our best to support our community with passion in whatever way we can; with our focus for June being the Mark Hughes Foundation. In true Bombora fashion, we made sure we didn't forget about one of our core values here - fun!

The Mark Hughes Foundation is a great cause that raises funds and awareness for brain cancer. The foundation is led by former NRL player and brain cancer survivor, Mark Hughes, and was founded by his wife Kirralee during his treatment.

The team at Bombora rallied behind the cause by purchasing the Mark Hughes Foundation beanies throughout the month. Our efforts culminated in a ‘Beanie Day’ on the 25th of June. This involved everyone showing off their newly purchased headwear as well as additional fundraising activities throughout the day, including basketball, footy throwing and of course, the sausage sizzle!

The morning of the Beanie day arrived, and it started with a basketball shooting competition on our newly installed basketball hoop. There was strong competition with a few tight matchups, but there could only be one winner. Our warehouse manager James managed to take out the title and graciously donated his winnings to the foundation, in true Bombora style.

Following the intense contest of the basketball shootout, we took a break for lunch. The chefs in our warehouse team put on a gourmet barbecue that the whole team enjoyed (not having any leftovers is always a good sign). The sausage sizzle always tastes better when it's for a good cause.

The afternoon was upon us and the final event for the day was a footy (Rugby) passing competition. James was able to assemble a custom cut-out template in front of some courier cages, which proved to be a crowd favourite. This was also a tight finish but the victor was a member of our warehouse team, Ali. Ali was able to use a combination of skill and mind games against his opponents to come out on top.

After a champion effort from everyone involved, we managed to raise and donate over $1000 for the Mark Hughes Foundation throughout the month and our Beanie Day. We are all extremely proud of being able to support such a worthwhile cause and the team are already talking about when our next fundraising competitions will be. The Mark Hughes Foundation also states that this year "Australians have hit back at Brain Cancer with a record-breaking $4.1 million raised across NRL Beanie for Brain Cancer Round this week for the Mark Hughes Foundation."

Please enjoy some fanstastic images and footage of the day! We thank each and every individual who participated and are excited for the next opportunity we have to assist our community.
