X25 Trailmaster Hand Grinder From Comandante
BREW YOUR BEST ON YOUR NEXT ADVENTURE WITH THE X25 TRAILMASTER HAND GRINDER FROM COMANDANTE

The newest addition to the Comandante family is the adventure-loving Comandante X25 Trailmaster handgrinder. Designed specifically for the outdoors, the Trailmaster boasts a whole new aesthetic compared to the classic design of the C40 range, together with a practical feature which will make this coffee grinder the ultimate go-to for brews on-the-go.

DESIGN & FEATURES

If you ever thought twice about throwing your Comandante MK3 or MK4 into your backpack to take with you exploring or camping, you’re not alone. Will the glass grind catcher break? Will it be durable and lightweight enough to take on adventures? For those who enjoy the outdoors – but who also enjoy a quality, delicious cup of freshly ground coffee wherever they are – the X25 Trailmaster is the ultimate in quality design and functionality.

Destined to be an outdoor grinder, the Trailmaster aesthetic and body was totally revisited by Comandante, and features a high-tech product called QTP®. This material is a techno-polymer, a double-chain type of nylon which is super compacting, making it incredibly strong and durable. While almost unbreakable, this reinforced material is also incredibly lightweight and food-safe, which makes it the perfect material for the type of adventure hand grinder than Comandante dreamed of creating.

The modern, matte finish polygon design sits nicely in your hand, with each polygon reflecting the light in a slightly different way, giving it the appearance of different textures and colours. The Comandante logo is featured on both sides of the grinder body and are raised slightly to give a little bit of extra grip during operation. The X25 is currently in the colour “Dune”, which is a light brown/beige colour, and pairs nicely with a solid European Oak crank knob. The grind quality and grinding motion of this hand grinder is on par with Comandante’s existing grinders, as it features the same high quality, high-performance Nitro Blade® burr set. This also means that the grind settings on the X25 will match your existing Comandante grind settings for your favourite recipes, as the axle and click-dial mechanism is the same. You will find, however, that the access to the grind setting dial on the Trailmaster is a bit different, with a little less space than the C40 to change settings or clean the components. You can also swap out most of your current burr set, upgrades, or accessories and use them in the Trailmaster, such as RedClix, burrs, axle, different coloured knobs, and ball bearings.

A new handy feature on the X25 Trailmaster is the included rubber lid, which snaps satisfyingly into place on the top of the grinder after you remove the crank lid and handle. This rubber lid seals the grinder, making the grinder body water resistant and features a little tab which makes it easily removeable. Since the polymer grinds catch doesn’t include a separate lid to help store your fresh beans or coffee grinds like the C40 models, this rubber lid can help keep one serve of beans fresh in the grinder hopper if you don’t have extra space in your backpack to store some beans in a separate container.

X25 TRAILMASTER VS. C40 HAND GRINDERS

There are some similarities and differences between the Trailmaster and the C40 range of hand grinders from Comandante. In creating a versatile and lightweight outdoors option, Comandante have not cut any corners on design elements or construction, spending years testing and perfecting their design. They have kept the burr set on the Trailmaster the same as their existing C40 range, as this Nitro Blade® burr set continues to give high quality results with great grind consistency and quality manufacturing. And it also still remains one of the most-loved and coveted hand grinders in the industry.

Together with the new material and aesthetic of the outer body of the Trailmaster, you’ll also notice slight variations in the size, capacity, and weight compared to the C40 range. As this grinder has been designed for the outdoors and to be carried comfortably in a backpack, the Trailmaster weighs in at around 420g, where the MK4 is approximately 570g. The Trailmaster features a slimmer body design with a smaller hopper diameter, measuring 55mm across compared to the MK4 at 62mm. This slimmer body makes the grinder a bit easier to grip in the hand and to slide into tight backpack spaces and pockets. At 160mm tall, the Trailmaster is also slightly taller than the MK4 which sits at 150mm tall approximately. Perhaps the biggest difference in these specs, however, is the maximum grinding capacity, which is significantly smaller in the C40 grinders, coming in at 25-28g compared to a whopping 40g of the C40.
