If your regular fridge filter is not lasting at least 6 months, or the flow diminishes noticeably, this add-on sediment only filter will fix the problem. Designed to take out the big particles, this filter protects the primary filter, particularly in certain geographic areas (such as parts of Melbourne) with excessive levels of sediment in the water. DIY installation, takes minutes to fit.
Replacing Existing External Inline Filters with Push-Fit Connections
1. Locate the isolation valve. (This will be located somewhere on the water supply line to the fridge.)
2. Switch OFF your water supply by turning the isolation valve and dispense some water from the fridge to ease the water pressure. Place a bowl and towel under the filter before removing for any spills.
3. To remove the filter, press in the locking collar (located at each end of the filter) with your thumb nail and at the same time, pull out the tubing and discard the old filter.
4. Remove the damaged/squashed ends of tubing by cutting off with sharp scissors. Make sure the cut is straight to avoid any leaks.
5. Take your new filter and remove the dust caps from either end (again, using your thumb nail to push down the locking collar and pull the dust caps off).
6. Check the FLOW direction on the new filter (shown on filter) and locate the INLET end of the filter.
7. Take your plastic tubing that runs from the water supply, and insert it into the INLET end of the new filter by pushing it 5-10mm into the filter connection.
8. Place the new filter over a bucket and switch ON your water supply. Run the water through the filter into the bucket for 5 minutes, and then switch OFF your water supply. (The water will be black. This is normal; it’s simply the carbon being released from the filter.)
9. Take the plastic tubing that runs to the fridge, and insert it into the OUTLET end of your new filter.
10. You can now attach the new filter to the wall bracket and switch ON your water supply. Run water from the fridge dispenser for 3 minutes and discard the water.
11. Reset the filter indicator light on your fridge OR complete the Replacement Due sticker and place in a visible area inside the fridge door.
